Born Curious, Bound for Somewhere
I've always been fascinated by faraway places.
I spent my formative childhood years in a very small town, but my curiosity stretched far beyond it. I'd read books and watch movies about places like Paris and New York, wondering what it would be like to see those places with my own eyes.
To me, travel has always represented freedom. There's something magical about boarding a plane bound for somewhere far away, knowing that an entirely new experience is waiting on the other end.
In fact, one of my favorite parts of any trip is the ride to the airport. All the planning is finished, the bags are packed, and the adventure is finally beginning. As I sit in the car, I think about the days ahead—the places I'll see, the people I'll meet, and all the things I can't possibly anticipate.
It's that feeling of freedom, possibility, and stepping into the unknown that keeps me traveling.
My hope is that by sharing my travels—the adventures, the discoveries, and, of course, a few mistakes along the way—I might inspire other explorers to be brave. Buy the ticket. Turn your face toward adventure and the unknown. Go to the places, see the things, and, most importantly, meet the people along the way.
Safe travels, my dear friends!
How I Travel
I like to have a plan, but I never want to be a prisoner to it.
Before I leave home, I generally have my flights booked and my main destinations mapped out. I enjoy the planning process, but I also make a point of leaving room for unexpected stops, spontaneous detours, and the occasional change of direction.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to spend extended periods traveling, which gives me the freedom to explore without having every day scheduled down to the minute.
For me, staying open to possibilities is one of the most important parts of travel. You learn so much simply by arriving somewhere new and experiencing it for yourself. A place might surprise you, change your expectations, or inspire you to head somewhere you hadn't even considered.
And some of the best travel recommendations don't come from guidebooks or websites. They come from the people you meet along the way.
I'm also a one-bag traveler—sometimes to a fault! I've spent years experimenting with different backpacks, packing setups, and gear, trying to find the right balance between carrying everything I need and keeping things as simple as possible.
